Skincare is a two-hundred-billion-dollar market and most of what it sells has never been tested against a placebo. The spine of this platform is one editorial rule: no claim gets published without the mechanism underneath it and the grade of the proof behind it.
Every claim goes back to a molecule and a trial
Retinoids work because they bind nuclear receptors and change keratinocyte turnover, and the randomised trials say by how much. Collagen drinks do not survive the same question. Every ingredient gets a mechanism, a grade, and an honest verdict, including the ones that fail.
Skin is a system, not a surface
A breakout is a barrier, a microbiome, a hormone, a climate, and a stress response all arguing with each other. Move a person from Jeju to Bergen and every variable changes at once. That framing is what separates the Ledger from a beauty blog.
Coverage and cure are both legitimate medicine
Vitiligo, keloids, and post-surgical scars often do not resolve. Medical camouflage is the part dermatology quietly hands off and nobody catches. The Ledger holds both the treatment and the coverage, without pretending either is a lesser answer.
